Wilma Jean James was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 8th, 1924 and passed away on August 22, 2023 at the Maple Knoll Village in Glendale, Ohio. She graduated McCulley High School and later worked at Wright Patterson in Dayton where she caught the eye of her future husband, John James.
Jean and John were married and together raised their daughter, Jackie. Jean was the co-owner of John James Construction in Middletown where she was the bookkeeper. She also enjoyed fishing, boating, mountains and being in nature. She and John loved to travel and cruise around the country, visiting all fifty states.
A resident of Oxford, Jean was an active member of Oxford United Methodist Church along with John.
She was the beloved wife of John James for over 74 years; devoted mother of Jackie James; loving grandmother of Mary Vincent and Terry (Amanda) Vincent and great grandmother of River and Violet; dear aunt of Bill Long, Debbie Chaney, Sally Smith, Roy Long and Chuck Long; she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Long.
A visitation for Jean will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Oxford from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at the Oxford Cemetery.
