William Clayton O'Bryan, affectionately known as “Bill”, 89, of Fairfield, Ohio passed away on January 30, 2025. He was born on July 25, 1935, in New Albany, Indiana, to John and Catherine (nee Barr) O'Bryan. He married Mary Louise (nee Gognat) and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Bill worked as a chemist and later as Director of Quality Control for National Distillers and Jim Beam.
He was very active within the senior community, participating and winning many medals, in many events in the Senior Olympics including shuffleboard and ping pong. Bill was an active member of the Fairfield Community Arts Center and was an avid card player. Bill also enjoyed researching genealogy and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his children William C. (Kimberly McCluskey) O’Bryan Jr., Cynthia (Michael) Auger, Michael (Andrea) O’Bryan, Lisa (Michael) Durr, and Kevin (Lisa) O’Bryan, grandchildren Kate, John, Anna, Emily, Brandon, Kimberly, Erin, Nicole, Joshua, Emily, Daniel, Sara, Sean, Matthew, Margret, and Caitlyn, 22 great-grandchildren and sister Irma Jackson.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Mary Louise O’Bryan, grandson Bryan Fisher and siblings Naomi, Bonnie, and Morris.
Visitation will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton, Ohio 45015, on Friday, February 7th, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the funeral services begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
