William (Bill) Coning, age 88, passed away May 18, 2024 at The Home at Hearthstone in Cincinnati. He was born June 23, 1935 to Randell and Bertha Coning. Bill was married to Lois Gersbach on September 27, 1952 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Together they had three children, Debbie, Dennis, and Tim. Bill worked for Pease Industries until they closed and then started his own construction business, Coning Home Improvement. Later, he opened The World of Kitchen and Bath remodeling store. Bill loved working with his hands and was an accomplished carpenter. He enjoyed making wooden gliders and other furniture. He and Lois made and sold craft items for many years. In 2012, Bill attended a Widows and Widowers gathering and met Dorothy Hamilton. They became close friends and were companions for the past 12 years. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and his sisters: Viola Gault, Evelyn Fisher Gault, Perry Coning, and George Coning. He is survived by his brothers Fred of Hamilton, and David of Indiana; his children Debbie (Bob) Helton of Lebanon, Dennis (Sue) Coning of Fairfield Township, and Tim (Becky) Coning of Cincinnati. He also is survived by six grandchildren: Tracy (Eric) Roberts, Chris (Corene) White, Andrew Coning, James Coning, Beth (David) Gaines, and Brian (Ashley) Coning and ten great grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers, but a donation in Bill’s name to one of the following charities would be appreciated: The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or The Wesley Foundation in Cincinnati.
The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff at The Home at Hearthstone and Bella Care Hospice.
There will be a graveside inurnment at St Stephens Cemetery on June 7, 2024 at 11am.
