Walter "Walt" O’Dell Foster passed away suddenly on September 23rd at the age of 64. He is beloved by all who knew him. Walt is described as warm, generous, and kind. He is fondly remembered for his child-like optimism and enthusiasm for life. Always having a kind word for everyone he met, Walt never knew a stranger.
A Tri-State man his whole life, Walt loved all things Cincinnati: The Reds, The Bengals, and – perhaps most of all – Skyline Chili. A self-described Toys-R-Us kid, Walt was happiest while babysitting his grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by all who had him as a junior church camp counselor, a volunteer position where he spent his summer vacations for more than 20 years with his lovely tenor voice being heard around the campfire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Foster. He is survived by Jan (Schmutz) Foster, his wife of 40 years. They have two children: Christy (Foster) Hanger and her husband David, and Matthew Foster. They also have two grandchildren: Fiona and Elias Hanger. He is also survived by his older brother, Russell Foster.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1st from 5 PM until time of the Funeral Service at 7 PM at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, OH 45015. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, Second Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540 (https://www.autismspeaks.org/).
