Wade Louis Hinkel, age 19, tragically passed away on the morning of June 20, 2025, after a devastating accident. Born on October 1, 2005, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Paul Louis Jr. and Linda Jean (Schroeder) Hinkel. Wade was a proud graduate of Union County High School, Class of 2024, and found joy in working as a groundsman at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Wade had a deep passion for sports, having played two years of school football and devoted 15 years to baseball. He cherished moments spent fishing, racing quads, and playing video games with his brother. As an older sibling, he often offered Wyatt guidance, caring deeply for his brother’s well-being and future—even when that advice was met with resistance. Wyatt will forever miss his big brother and best friend.
Wade was surrounded by a wide circle of friends, each of whom felt his warmth and kindness. He held a special place in the hearts of his parents and family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Wade is survived by his loving parents, Paul Louis Hinkel Jr. and Linda Jean Hinkel; brother Wyatt August Hinkel; maternal grandparents Gertrude and August Schroeder; paternal grandparents Candace and Paul Hinkel; aunts and uncles David Schroeder, Carolyn Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey, Julie Baker, Gregory Baker; cousins Michael Schroeder, Hanna Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey, Benjamin Baker, Brianna Baker; as well as his great-aunt, Marilyn Simon. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial gathering will take place at Paul R Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio 45056 on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 3:00pm-6:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 6:00pm. A celebration of life will take place at Left Field Tavern, 12 W Park Place Oxford, Ohio 45056 following the memorial service.
