Virgil was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Alverta (nee Young) and Joseph Minges on January 31, 1943. He's the beloved father of Ricky (Cheryl) Minges, Michele (Mitchell) Douglas and Tricia (Jack) Hartmann; cherished grandfather of Danielle (Zach) Holley, Joey (Courtney) Minges, Kristen (Marcus) Townsend, Kelsie Messer and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his little buddy, Bella the Cat. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan (nee Roetting) Minges, and his parents.
He will be remembered most as a car enthusiast. In his early years, he dabbled in auto racing and later focused on collectibles. They were his pride and joy. When he wasn't thinking about cars, he was probably watching television - particularly old westerns - and planning his next vacation. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida when he could. Virgil deeply loved his family and will be dearly missed.
A visitation for Virgil will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home (Mt. Healthy) on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 12 pm, followed by burial at Spring Grove Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in Virgil's memory may contribute to Hospice of Cincinnati.
Virgil might have one parting thought to share if he could. He'd remind you that everything is "Coney Island ..."
