Vera Marie (Beck) Wartner

Vera passed peacefully at her home in Oxford on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Francis Joseph Wartner; devoted mother of Marilynn (Guillermo) Acebey, Roger (Melania) Wartner, Michael (Victoria) Wartner, Frank (Laura) Wartner, Susan (John) Pranica, Kurt (Gail) Wartner and David (Kathleen) Wartner; grandmother to many dear grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Detroit, Vera was the fifth of nine children born to Carl and Louise Beck.  Although all of her siblings are deceased, she is survived by many extended family members in Michigan.  In younger years, Vera enjoyed sports like tennis and bowling, and expressed her creativity in drawing, painting, sewing clothing and home decorating.  Widowed with seven children still at home, Vera showed strength and resilience in getting them all successfully launched into adulthood.  In retirement, Vera enjoyed driving and camping across the country with her sister Catherine and her sister’s husband Ben Van Heusden along with their two youngest sons.  She also participated in many family reunion vacations at several resorts in the Midwest.  She always enjoyed family visits and the nature around her in Oxford.

Vera was a longtime member of St. Mary Church. A Memorial Mass will be held for Vera on Thursday, January 6, 2021, at 10 am at St. Mary Church in Oxford. Donations in Vera's name can be made to Hospice of CIncinnati or St. Mary Church, 111 East High St. Oxford, Ohio 45056.
