Sandra "Sandy" Sullivan of Oxford, Ohio, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Somerset, Kentucky, to James and Hallie (Duncan) Rutherford. Sandy was a loving and devoted wife to John Sullivan Sr., and a cherished mother and grandmother. Celebrating 61 wonderful years of marriage just weeks before her passing, her bond with John was a testament to their love and commitment.
Sandy is survived by her husband John Sullivan; three sons: Jeff (Kathy) Sullivan, John (Alisa) Sullivan Jr. and Scott Sullivan; as well as her beloved grandchildren: Jessica Sullivan, Vincent Sullivan, Katelin Kasler, Zach Sullivan, Elizabeth Saxton, Ben Sullivan, Abigail Metzger, Emily Halderman, Gracie Sullivan, and Connor Sullivan. She was also a proud grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Katherine Evensen, Shirley Hicks, Loretta Keeney, Alta Medley, Peggy Nevels, Bobby Rutherford, and Jim Rutherford. Sandy’s warmth and nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless others in her community. She had a gift for making those around her feel loved and supported, often taking on a maternal role for many beyond her family.
With a smile that could brighten any room, Sandy’s love for animals and her compassionate nature brought joy to all who knew her. Her family will honor her memory with a Celebration of Life at a later date, and they invite anyone touched by Sandy's kindness to share their memories and condolences on the Tribute Wall at www.paulyoungfuneralhome.com. Sandy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
