Sandra Douglass Obituary

Sandra Jean Finkbine Douglass, born August 29, 1941, to Don and Julia Finkbine, lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and quiet strength. As the oldest of four children, she embraced her role with grace. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Sullenberger, and is survived by her brother Gerald Finkbine of Darrtown, Ohio, and her sister Yvonne Palmer of Tampa, FL.

Sandra shared a wonderful 62-year marriage with her husband, Robert Douglass, who passed in August 2023. Together they built a loving family that became her greatest joy. She is survived by her daughters: Beth Pace (Darrell), Susan Wilson (Kevin), Kathy Butterfield (Bryan), and Karen Remley, along with grandchildren: Doug (Beth), Clair (Beth), Colin (Susan) Cassidy (Susan), Ashley (Karen), Brandon (Kathy) and great-grandchildren: Nolan (Doug), Carson (Doug), Trevor (Doug), Kenzleigh (Clair), Kendra (Clair), Olivia (Colin), Ziyon (Colin), Arthur (Cassidy).

A proud graduate of Talawanda High School's second graduating class in 1959, Sandra went on to attend the School of Nursing at Miami. Her calling to care for others shaped a long and meaningful career. She began at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital on the maternity floor, where she supported countless families during life's most precious moments. She later helped establish the Oxford OB-GYN office with Dr. McLain and Dr. Weisenmeyer, and ultimately concluded her career in family practice with Dr. Princell. Her work touched generations in the Oxford community.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sandra cherished the adventures and simple joys of life. She loved traveling across the United States with her family in their camper, creating memories in every corner of the country. She spent many happy years cheering from the sidelines as her daughters played softball, a role she embraced with pride and enthusiasm. She was loved beyond measure and brought happiness to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Sandra was a longtime member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church and held deep pride in her heritage and service through the Caroline Scott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Sandra's life was one of service, devotion, and love to her family, her patients, and her community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the loved ones who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and pride.
