Ryan Starrett

Ryan Starrett was born in Oxford, Ohio, son of Sharyn Schwegman Starrett and Timothy Starrett on August 30, 2006. He is a 2025 Talawanda graduate and had been accepted to Miami University for the fall to study engineering, a subject he long held a passion for. Ryan was looking forward to pursuing his career and said he wanted to make a name for himself. He also loved fishing, kayaking and just being outdoors. Ryan loved climbing trees and anything that was a challenge. He enjoyed family trips out west, traveling to national parks, riding roller coasters and wakeboarding in Myrtle Beach. Ryan also loved frogs and his cats. He loved to go to Taco Bell and Little Caesars and his favorite foods were his dad's casseroles, pot pies and chocolate milk. He was very tech savvy and knew a lot about computers. He had a group of friends throughout the United States and Canada that he cherished talking to and gaming with online. In his spare time he enjoyed working out at the Miami Rec. Center and swinging his 20-pound sledge hammer. 

Ryan is the beloved son of Sharyn and Timothy Starrett; cherished brother of Kathryn Starrett, Sarah Starrett and Jessica (Kaleb Cole) Starrett; and treasured grandson of Jeanette Schwegman, Patti (Roy) Yampolsky and Richard (Daisy) Starrett. Ryan was preceded in death by his grandfather Alfred Schwegman. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love him dearly. Ryan was a bright and shining light in the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

A memorial gathering will take place at Paul R Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3:30pm-6:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 6:00pm.  The family has requested memories to be shared during the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Ryan to the families GoFundMe .
