Ronald E. Setser, 85, of Oxford, Ohio, passed away on August 3, 2024. Ronald, affectionately known as Ron (Ronnie to family), was born to George “Bill” and Thelma Setser on February 21, 1939. He was a natural problem solver and put his talents to work in research and development for Proctor & Gamble for more than 30 years.
Ron was known for his sharp wit and infectious humor, which he shared generously throughout his life. Perpetually curious and a life-long learner, he took classes at Miami University, University of Cincinnati, and St. Xavier. Always keen to stay current with technology, Ron began his engineering studies carrying three slide rules and concluded his career writing computer code for research design and statistical analysis. However, the roles most important to him were husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than helping his kids with a school project, especially if it involved creative brainstorming or, better yet, assembly. Ron took his role as citizen seriously and was deeply committed to his community and his country. He followed current events closely.
Ron’s spirit is carried on by his wife of nearly 64 years, Kaye (nee Douglass), their children Geoffrey (Susan), Katherine (Dick Overton), and Julia (Peter) Pedroni, grandsons Nicholas and Steven Setser, granddaughter Beatrice Pedroni, sister Shirley (Bill) Barnhart and niece Amy (Rob) Gill. Both his parents preceded him in peace.
The family invite you to join them for a visitation at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Oxford, Ohio on Wednesday, August 7, from 4:00 - 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice in Ron’s name.
The family wish to thank his tireless and kind caregivers, and our many supportive and loving friends.
