Robert Tuffendsam Obituary

Bob, known to many as “builder Bob” or as he often liked to introduce himself, “My name is Bob, but I spell it backwards”, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Blanche (nee Roberts) and Arthur Tuffendsam on June 14, 1941. He is the beloved father of Kurt (Penny) Tuffendsam and Eric (Suzanne) Tuffendsam; and loving grandfather of Corrie (Terrapin) Christensen, Efrem Tuffendsam, Owen Tuffendsam, Evelyn Tuffendsam, Calvin Tuffendsam and Amelia Tuffendsam. He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Nicholas J. Klein, and his aunt Mabel (nee Roberts) Klein.

In 1975, Bob married Barbara (nee Hepfinger) and they were together 20 years as they raised their two sons Kurt and Eric. Bob was an extreme extrovert who seemed to know everyone, everywhere. He loved traveling, boating, camping, history, and working on old cars. He was an unconventional, but prolific entrepreneur. Early in his career he was a credit manager for 10 years at GE Evandale before starting his own remodeling business in the 1970’s. He built and remodeled many houses in the Cincinnati area, including developing a subdivision in Erlanger, KY where he built custom homes through his company PDQ Builders. He enjoyed researching and buying investment properties, which he had spread across several states. He was the Chief Building Inspector for the City of Florence, KY ten years. He also owned and maintained several apartment buildings and started a trucking company. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard 1/147th infantry division for six years.

In his later years, Bob loved to spend time in Florida and was a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Ft. Myers. He loved singing in the choir and spent much time volunteering at their school where he was appointed a deacon of building maintenance and repairs.
