Richard Everett Hodgetts

Richard “Hodgie” Hodgetts, of Mt. Healthy, Ohio, went home to be with our Lord on January 17, 2025, at age of 72. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Hodgetts (nee Armstrong), his daughter Stefanie (Tim) Cain, his son Jason (Kelly) Hodgetts, and his granddaughters, Amber Hodgetts and Elizabeth Cain. He is also survived by loving family and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett & Lois Hodgetts, and his sister, Suzanne Turner.

Richard graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1971, and became a welder by trade. Richard gave his life to Christ in 1973, and has been a dedicated Christian ever since. He was a member at Pleasant Run Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder for many years.

Richard was best known for two things – music and his sense of humor. He was an avid Beatles fan and learned to play the guitar due to them. It turns out that he never met a stringed instrument that he couldn’t just pick up and play. He played the guitar and sang in several Christian bands, at numerous churches, and at many family and friends functions and events. His introduction into playing guitar in public was with the Jesus House, a popular Christian Coffee House in Mt. Healthy in the 70’s and 80’s. He was an important part of the Jesus House and made numerous lifelong friends there. In addition to Christian music, he also loved to play many other kinds of music. Incidentally, he is also known for his repertoire of unique “novelty” songs that were funny, silly, and entertaining. He and his guitar were often the center of many functions.

A visitation is being held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, at 7345 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy, Ohio, 45231, on Friday, January 24, 2025, 6 PM – 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 10 AM, at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Mt. Healthy.
