Rev. Wayne A. Spangler, was born to Kenneth & Louise Spangler on January 10, 1928 in Columbus, OH. Because of the Depression, the family moved to Canton, OH in 1932 where Wayne attended school, grades 1-12. In 1942, the family (dad, mom, and 2 boys) became Christian at a summer week-end meeting. Wayne graduated as Valedictorian of his Senior Class of 1950. He attended Marion College (IWU) from 1948-1950. Wayne married Harriet Pelfrey in 1950. He graduated from Cleveland Bible College (now Malone University) in 1952. That same year, they moved to Western Pennsylvania and pastored for 25 years at 6 different churches. While pastoring, he earned a degree, a B.S. in Elementary Education, taught public schools for 3 years, and founded a Christian School. In 1977, he moved back to Ohio as a pastor and taught at a Christian School. Wayne and Harriet moved to Cincinnati in 1981. While in Cincinnati, he became the plumbing buyer at Beck Hardware store. In 2000, Wayne and Harriet celebrated 50 years together, and his parents attended the celebration. In 2002, his parents celebrated 75 years together and passed away later that year. In 2004 Wayne and Harriet moved to The Wesleyan Village in Brooksville Florida. Harriet passed away in 2005. He married Margaret Jones in 2006. While living in The Village, he was Chaplain at a local hospital for 12 years, chaired the Saturday Night Men's Meeting for the Village for 12 years. Margaret passed away in 2020. Wayne is survived by his daughter Deborah (Bob) Frandoni of Cincinnati, OH; son, John (Karen) Spangler of Bellevue, KY; grandchildren, Joseph and Kaitlyn of the DC area; Max Spangler of Bellevue, KY, and Miranda (Andy) Geers of Falmouth, KY; great-grandchildren, Jeanna, Joshua, and Jacob of Falmouth, KY; brother Tom (Marie) Spangler of Mansfield, OH; and sister-in-law Mina Spangler of Beam Speedway, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30th from 10 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy, OH 45231. Interment on Friday, January 2nd at 1 PM at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, please give to The Wesleyan Church Global Partners Missions.
