CHAIN,
Raymond “Ray” Franklin, age 95, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucy (O’Dell) Chain, his beloved wife, Betty (Ellis) Chain, his brother, William “Bill” Chain, and sister-in-law Fritz (Stevens) Chain, and his niece Susan (Chain) Kohne. He is survived by his devoted family: his niece Billie (Richard) Cable, his nephews Chris & Sean Kardux; Paul (Sheryl) Kohne, Robert (Holly) Kohne, Michael Kohne, and Renee Kohne Forbis. All enjoyed Ray’s sense of humor. A resident of Mt. Healthy Christian Village, Ray was born in Cincinnati, OH, Clifton Ave., October 6, 1922. Ray Graduated from Old Woodward H.S., Class of 1940. He excelled in all sports. Ray began his career with the City of Cincinnati in road maintenance. Within a year, he was drafted in the Army. Private Raymond F. Chain, 20, was stationed at Camp Beale, California. After training, he arrived in Germany to become part of the Armored Tank Division in Germany. When the war ended, Ray returned to work for the City of Cincinnati and retired after 35 years. He kept up his friendship with his Army tank buddy, Ysidro J. Espinoza of Chicago. With his wife Betty, Ray enjoyed years of trips to Port Clinton. He was an avid collector of anvils with his friend Ron Wolf, Liberty, Indiana. As widowers, he and his brother moved into Mt. Healthy Christian Village where they made new friends and greatly appreciated the staff. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 10 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at the Mt. Healthy Christian Village Chapel, 8097 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45231. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mt. Healthy Christian Village, Compassionate Care Fund, 8097 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45231.
