Pat Catarrinho passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 30, 2021. Born Patricia Margaret Schehl to Myrtle and Edward Schehl, she graduated Shaker Heights High School and attended Miami University. At Miami she was a founding member of the first female ROTC unit in the United States, known at the Altairs.
Following college, she married Buddy K. Haidet and raised a family of four children in Oxford, Ohio. Later in life she married Jose Catarrinho and they lived in Portugal and Roswell, Georgia.
Pat had careers as a real estate agent and a travel agent. She truly loved her work as a travel agent; particularly, advising people on cruise ship trips. Mixing business and pleasure, Pat took cruises all over the world. She had a keen sense of matching her clients with wonderful trips on cruise ships. After she retired, Pat took up studying the families’ genealogy and eventually became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
However, what Pat was truly passionate about was being a mother and a grandmother. She spent most of her time keeping in touch with and showing her unwavering support for her children and 13 grandchildren. She closely followed everyone on social media - sometimes seeing a little too much of what the grandchildren were doing! She watched so many of her grandchildren’s performances, soccer matches, races, graduations and any other activity in which her grandchildren engaged that she often had little time for anything else. She epitomized unconditional love when it came to her children and grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Laura Romanazzi; sons, Jeff, Jim and Mark Haidet; daughters-in-law Kathleen Haidet, Polly Pieterick; brother, Ed Schehl, and grandchildren Judson Hill, Jennifer Haidet, Austin Haidet, Kelliann Haidet, Natalie Haidet, Luca Romanazzi, Jack Haidet, Lexi Romanazzi Muncy, Jessica Haidet, Christina Haidet, Matt Haidet, Bella Romanazzi and Margot Haidet.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Oxford Cemetery, 4385 Millville Oxford Rd., Oxford, 45056.
