Mary was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Angela (nee Heartz) and Beck Laney on February 5, 1936. She is the beloved mother of Daniel (Nancy) Scheffel, Elizabeth (Eddie) McDonald and Janice (Robert) Denney; cherished grandmother of Erica (Chris) Poplin-Lovett, Emily Scheffel, Kate Denney, Bryan (Stephanie) Scheffel, Darren (Kerri) McDonald, Daniel McDonald and 12 great grandchildren; loving sister of Lorraine Laney, Ray (the late Janet) Laney, Melba (the late Joe) Miller, Bill (Donna) Laney and Jim Laney; dear sister-in-law of Fred (Peggy) Scheffel, Mark (Wilda) Scheffel, Elaine Morningstar and Gary (Robin) Scheffel; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Scheffel, her parents, and her siblings Evelyn (Frank) Williams, Rita (Wendell) Fishwick, Millie (Lou) Staarmann and Don (Shirley) Laney.
Mary was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hamilton. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and taking time out to travel. Mary enjoyed spending time at the winery talking with family and friends, she was our biggest fan. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Hamilton on Thursday, October 10, 2024 10:15 - 11:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12 pm at St. Ann Catholic Church. Those wishing to make a contribution in Mary's memory can donate to St. Ann Catholic Church.
