Marjorie Sue Foster Bowers

Marjorie was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Elizabeth Withrow and Reverend Robert K. Foster on November 22, 1940. She is the beloved wife of Charles Bowers for 62 years; devoted mother of Jane (Randy) Gooder and Susan (Jason) Bantz; cherished grandmother of Sarah (Luke) Robinson, Benjamin (Tori) Gooder, Jonathan (Anni) Gooder, Emily Bantz, Carrie (Brett) Reichwein, Nathan Bantz, Luke Bantz and great-grandmother of Colette Kristi Robinson, Mira Jane Robinson, Alastar Randall Gooder and Mack Aaron Robinson; and dear sister of Marilyn (nee Foster) (Doug) Jordan. She is also survived by many loving friends and relatives. 

Marjorie was a gifted artist, graduating from Miami University in Art Education in 1962. While at Miami, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and a member of the Kappa Keys, a singing trio that sang many places, most notably performing the National Anthem at a Reds game. She taught art for many years in the Chicago suburbs and retired from Glenbard South High School. She earned a Masters Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. Marjorie loved to write, read, illustrate and was the author of two books. Her local church family was very important to her through her life. She was most recently a member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church in Trenton. Marjorie was also a local Oxford historian and loved being a member of the Oxford community; member of local PEO (DC) chapter and the local D.A.R chapter, and was honored as "Citizen of the Year” in 2012. She was very active in the arts as a longtime member of the Oxford Community Art Center and a docent at the Miami University Art Museum. Marjorie also shared her own art at local craft shows, and she especially loved music and singing harmony with her sister, friends, and family.  

A visitation for Marjorie will be held at The Knolls of Oxford on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 9 am until time of funeral service at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Oxford Cemetery.
