Larry was born on July 4th, 1938 to parents, Elmer and Madeline Rayburn. Larry passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Rose Ann Rayburn (nee Enwright); his loving children, Lawrence M. (Linda) Rayburn, Anna (Al) George, Steven (Susan) Rayburn, Guinevere Rayburn, Jennifer (Matt) Guy, and Judie (Wes) Campbell. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, the late Winfield (the late Mary) Rayburn & the late David (the late Cathy) Rayburn. Larry, chairman emeritus of Richard Goettle, Inc., had designed hundreds of earth retention projects, pile foundations and cofferdams. He was a past president of the Deep Foundations Institute and a member of the UC Advisory Board, American Society of Civil Engineers, Moles, Engineer & Scientist, the American Arbitration Association and the American Institute of Constructors. He presented dozens of papers to national conferences on geotechnical projects. The Technical Societies of Cincinnati presented him its Professional Accomplishment Award for Industry and Consulting in 1990 and named him distinguished engineer in 2004. He also received the Spirit of Construction Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 and distinguished service awards from UC’s civil engineering department and the Deep Foundations Institute, both in 2006. In 2008, Larry P. Rayburn received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers. He held a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati and had been a guest lecturer for UC civil engineering classes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27th from 10:30 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 5222 North Bend Road, Cincinnati, OH 45247. Private interment to follow at St. James Cemetery (White Oak). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Larry P.
