Kathryn Louise Pierson, 94, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2026. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hazel Ellingson, 3 siblings and her beloved husband of 65 years, Benjamin Pierson. She is survived by her children; Renee, Dan, and David; 2 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kathryn was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 28, 1931. She married Benjamin Pierson on May 21, 1955, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage before Benjamin passed away in December of 2020. Of interest, Kathryn designed her own wedding gown and part of their honeymoon was spent in Havana, Cuba.
Kathryn was an avid reader, loved classical music and was an accomplished pianist and gifted speaker. She played the piano at church, funerals, wedding receptions and nursing homes. She sang in College Hill Presbyterian Church for many years. She enjoyed writing and had articles published in Readers Digest Guidepost Magazine and wrote a 240-page book (unpublished). She enjoyed hosting dinner parties in her younger years. They enjoyed travel after their children were raised including a trip to Norway with her husband and daughter meeting many Norwegian relatives. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She also enjoyed simple things: walking everyday, rain or shine, by herself and with her husband well into their late 80s, listening to classical music and the sounds of nature on their patio.
Her body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical College.
Memorial visitation will be held on February 7, 2026 from 10-11 AM at Paul R. Young Funeral Home (Mt. Healthy). A memorial service will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donation be made to First Presbyterian Church, 115 S Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030.
