Kathleen (née Nimersheim) Allen passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. She was 81 years old.
Up until the end, Kathy maintained her vivacious spirit; she continually prayed The Hail Mary, as a personal devotion and source of comfort, seeking intercession with the Lord, for blessings in her life and into the next.
Born on October 11, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Nicholas and Alice Nimersheim, Kathy, along with her sister Donna, was raised in Deer Park, Ohio. In May 1965, she married the love of her life, David Allen, and together, they had their two daughters, Nikki and Shelli. Kathy’s life was full of wonderful and varied experiences, and her loving and supportive marriage to David was truly the defining part of her journey. Kathy’s lively personality and love of conversation served her well in her career as a restaurant waitress, thriving in the busy atmosphere and daily interactions. But spending time with her family was the cornerstone of Kathy’s life. She enjoyed evenings out listening to her husband play his guitar, and spending time at their campsite in Indiana, near her sister and closest friends. One of Kathy’s favorite pastimes was watching the Cincinnati Bengals, and she was often adorned in lively Bengals’ attire. Her love for the Bengals was only surpassed by the love she had for her family.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, and she delighted in her family. She is survived by her husband, David; her daughter, Nikki Schell, and son-in-law, Tim Schell; sister, Donna Frost, and brother-in-law Jim Frost; her grandchildren, Sarah (Jacob) Young, David Finn, and Heaven Finn; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Alice Nimersheim; her daughter, Shelli Finn, and son-in-law, David Finn; and grandson, Thomas Hilvers.
To her family, Kathy was a supportive presence, with a gentle spirit and compassionate heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and her family will continue to cherish her memory and radiant spirit with love. Although she is deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is fully renewed in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, with a funeral service at 5 p.m., at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Avenue, in Mt. Healthy. A reception will follow, and family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Kathy and in celebration of her life.
