Judith "Judy" Carolyn (Bowen) Unger

Judith “Judy” C. Unger, 85 of Cincinnati, OH, was born on August 2, 1935, in Frankfort, IN, to Raymond and Hettie (Neher) Bowen and passed this life to be with her Lord on October 29, 2020, at Jewish Hospital.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, Judy faithfully served in many areas of ministry at her local church. After being born again on March 20, 1967, she became a student of the Word of God, played piano for church, taught Sunday School classes, and Home Bible Studies, served in the bus ministry, was a Bible Quizzing coach, and mentored many with grace, understanding, patience and compassion.

She was a faithful member of Zion Tabernacle in Kokomo, IN, for twenty-five years, and of The Calvary Church in Cincinnati, OH, since 1996. She loved preachers. Sister Unger was a beloved schoolteacher at Zion Christian Academy (14 years) and Calvary Academy (2 years), using her quick wit, humor, ready smile, kindness, laughter and wisdom to instruct and influence her students.

One of her favorite passages from her favorite book: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” (2 Timothy 4:7).

Besides suffering the loss of her parents, Judy also suffered the loss of her loving husband of 65 years, Doyne R. Unger; her siblings, Mildred Pence, Robert Bowen, Susan Richey, Herbert Bowen, Jean Aaron, Shirley Adams; and an infant son, Thomas R. Unger.

She is survived by, her son, Randy (Kay) Unger, Kokomo, IN; her daughter, LouAnne (Melvin) Kuntzman, Chandler, IN; her son, Timothy (Karla) Unger, Fort Worth, TX; her daughter, Lynn Unger, Cincinnati, OH; her adopted daughter, Susan Heimkreiter, Cincinnati, OH; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; a host of friends and other “adopted” family; and her brother, Theodore Bowen, Lafayette, IN.

The funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 12:00 PM, at The Calvary Church, 11970 Kenn Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45240, with Pastor Tom Ellis and Pastor Joel Urshan officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. There will be a burial service immediately following the funeral.
