John Ray Graft was born to Alberta (nee Baumann) and Walter Graft on March 9, 1941 in Hamilton, Ohio. He is the devoted and adoring husband of Sue (nee Archer) Graft for fifty-three years; beloved father of the late Crystal Graft and Heather (Billy) Jones; cherished grandfather of Steven (Stacy) Sams, Corey Sams, Ericka Cox, Chloe Jones (who has also served lovingly as caregiver for her grandparents) and Gage Jones and dear great-grandfather of Madalynn Cox, Christian Cox, Alexander Cox, Lukas Cox, Rylan Sams and Barrett Sams; he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Martha Zeek and survived by sisters Elaine Heinbaugh and Mary Anne Dulli as well as many dear family and friends.
John grew up in Hamilton where he graduated high school and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Thailand during the Korean conflict serving as an MP and returned home to later carry on his service to his community as a Police Officer in the Fairfield Police Department. First and foremost, John was a family man. He adored his wife and everything he did was done for the love of his family. He is deeply treasured and his presence will be greatly missed.
A visitation for John will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Paul R. Young Funeral Home at 3950 Pleasant Avenue in Lindenwald. Donations in John's memory can be made to the Fairfield Police Department and the Alzheimer's Association.
