Jeannette Louise Stegeman (nee Damon), age 97, passed away at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana on Saturday, October 30, 2021. She was born January 2, 1924 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Peter Damon and Margaret (nee Theobolt) Bradshaw. Jeannette is survived by her children Kathy (Dan) Watkins, Jeanine (Jim) Daniels, and Ted (Randi) Stegeman; grandchildren Becky Tucker, Tyler, Karen and Steven Stegeman; and step-grandchildren Shawna (Condy) Davis and Pam (John) Gargano. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Bailey and Sydney Tucker, and Antonio Brooks; step-great-grandchildren Brandy Rindler, Corey (Alvin) Vollmer, and Evan and Ella Gargano; and numerous other step-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law Jean Stegeman and Mary Walker, and many nieces and nephews.
On August 2, 1947 Jeannette married Theodore Stegeman in Cincinnati, Ohio where they lived for 56 years until his death in 2003. She was also predeceased by brothers Bob and Bill Damon and Ike Bradshaw, sister Georgette Collier, granddaughter Mandy Cook, and great-grandsons Dean and Shay Tucker.
Jeannette worked in retail at the Fair Store during the 1940's then returned to retail in the 1960's at Pete's Washington Shoppe, McAlpins, and Elder Beerman where she retired in 1996.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Paul Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
