Jay Lee Macklin, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 12, 2024. He was born on February 26, 1971 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Ruthie Lee (nee Smith) and Leon William Macklin, Sr. Jay is the beloved husband of Hannah (nee Lawrence) Macklin; devoted father of Kiara Rae (Dominique) Pryor, Jay Lee (Amanda Mount) Macklin, Jr., Aaliyah Hart Macklin and Layla Ruthie Macklin; loving Papa to Nevaeh Ruthie Macklin, Ava Baker and Mason Baker; devoted brother of Robert (Sharon) Macklin, Leon (Cheryl) Macklin, Jr., Maria Kay Macklin, William (Shawn Carnes) Macklin and Yvonnda (the late Alan) Johnson; dear son-in-law of Nancy (Jeff) Aston and Kurt (Catherine) Lawrence. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Ruthie and Leon Sr., and his oldest brother, Jimmy Macklin.
Jay was an avid fisherman who felt closest to God when he was on the water. He loved to spend time with family and friends. He also loved his dog, (the late) Dozer, his granddog, Jett, and his beloved boat, Big Red. The greatest loves of his life were his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held for Jay at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Mt. Healthy from 1 pm until the time of memorial service at 2 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
