Helen Louise Ayers, age 102, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Helen was born in Fonde, KY to Bessie (nee Hodge) and Sherman Hammitte on November 6, 1923. She is the beloved mother of and survived by: Mitzie (Bill) Wilson of Oxford, OH; Sue (the late Atwood) Guttridge of Walton, KY; and Dean (Polly) Ayers of Wesley Chapel, FL. Helen was one of thirteen children, preceded in death by ten siblings and leaves behind dear brother Kenneth Hammitte of Hamilton, AL and dear sister Arizona Schmidt of Zephyrhills, FL.
Helen was a very proud grandmother who prayed regularly for her 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. She consistently poured into each of them at every opportunity.
Helen was a loving mother who was deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and who lived her life passionately for the Lord. She was an active member of AP Church (Ambassador's Pointe) in Oxford, OH. Her church family was a treasure to her. She was also a long time employee of Miami University, earning a position as staff in their Hall of Fame.
Helen had many, many friends throughout the years, always sharing the goodness of God with others and making a lasting impact on every life she touched.
Services will be held at AP Church in Oxford on Friday, January 2, 2026 with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM, which will be immediately followed by burial at Oxford Cemetery.
