Sonny was born in Ulvah, Kentucky to Sarah (nee Ison) and Rankin Campbell on Christmas Day of 1941. He is the beloved husband of the late Myrtle (nee Hensley) Campbell; devoted father of Pauline Farthing, Kathy (Jeff) Studer and Wesley (Judie) Campbell; cherished grandfather of Michael (Danielle) Farthing, Heather (Danny) Porter, David Farthing, Jessica (Scott Hill) Studer, Sam Studer, Matthew Veerkamp, Sarah Campbell and great grandchildren Casey Porter, Ryan Porter, Tyson Porter and Ava Hill; dear brother of Rudell (the late Gene) Dixon, Wanda (the late Bill) Willis, Barbara (Gilbert) Ingram, Velma (Jay) Back and Delma (the late Hoover) Ison. He is preceded in death by his wife Myrtle, his mother and father, his sister Ruth (the late Bill) Thomas, and his brother Junior "Ruley" (Dorothy) Campbell. He's also survived by many loving family and friends.
Sonny was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked for 46 years at Parkway Products. He loved going outside to fish at the lake or spend time in his garden. Sonny enjoyed flowers, woodworking, cooking and also really liked a good home-cooked meal. He could also be found watching his favorite westerns and cowboy shows or catching up with the latest races at the horse tracks.
A visitation for Sonny will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Mt. Healthy from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm.
