Gene Zgoda

Gene Zgoda, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on September 8, 1941, to parents Louis and Stella Zgoda. Gene passed away on July 6, 2025, just two months shy of his 84th birthday. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Zgoda; his children, Donald (Rebecca) Zgoda and Beth (Brian Tefft) Zgoda; his grandchildren, Ashley (James) Glock and Andrew (Savannah) Zgoda; his great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Addison, and Noah; and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and member of St. Bartholomew Church. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as an educator, where he developed and taught several industrial arts programs for high school students, inspiring countless young minds to explore their creativity and technical skills.

In addition to teaching, Gene was a gifted gourd artist, known for his creativity and ability to transform simple gourds into works of art. Gene earned recognition in local newspapers for his passion for sustainability, which was evident in his remarkable talent for turning unwanted items into functional pieces. Through his artistic and technical endeavors, he not only breathed new life into forgotten treasures but also inspired others to see potential in every item, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th from 9 AM until time of the Memorial Mass at 10 AM at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45231. Inurnment will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Bartholomew Church, Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center, or to the charity of your choice.
