Gary was born on October 4, 1952 to Janet (nee Knost) and Carl Christophel. Gary grew up loving sports. As a child, he would spend hours throwing a ball at the back of his house. His mom would say she always knew where Gary was when she could hear the thump of the rubber ball hitting the brick wall. After he graduated High School, he was signed onto the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team and had a short career as the pitcher. He then started his 40+ year career as an Electrician. He married and had three children whom he was proud to have helped raise to be constructive citizens in society. His six grandchildren were his pride and joy. He shared his love of fishing with them all. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family but his reunion with his predeceased daughter, parents and brother will be very heartwarming.
Gary is the beloved husband of Karen (nee Wilson) Christophel (married on 4/27/1975); devoted father of Keith (Cassie) Christophel, Scott (Sarah) Christophel and son-in-law Richard Foster; cherished grandfather of Savanah, Silas, Alex, Aaron, Connor and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by and reunited in joy with his parents, his brother Carl H. Christophel, his sister Janet League, and his precious daughter Kelly Foster.
Memorial Visitation will be held on December 20, 2025 from 2 - 3 PM at Paul R. Young Funeral Home - Mt Healthy. A Memorial Service will immediately follow.
