Erich John Thoene

Erich John Thoene, who peacefully passed away surrounded by family at the age of 95 on April 10, 2025, Born on May 14, 1929, in Chicago, IL, to the late Conrad and Freida (Schroeder) Thoene. Erich was a proud graduate of Roosevelt University, class of 1966, and his commitment to family and community was evident throughout his life. He married his beloved wife, Marjorie (Blood) Thoene, in 1958, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Erich had a fulfilling career in building management for the Federal Government, and he was the youngest Worshipful Master of Mithra Masonic Lodge, now known as Constellation Lodge #974 at the age of 28 years old. 

Erich joined The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Northern Masonic District on November 1st in 1962. He was also a proud member of the Syrian Shriners of Cincinnati. He leaves behind a heartfelt legacy, survived by his devoted wife, Marjorie Thoene; loving children, Barb Brayton and Deborah (Joseph) Traxler; six grandchildren Gregory Brayton, Rachel (Nickolas) Lommatzsch, Davey (Samantha) Brayton, Derek (Maria) Price, Lindsey (Caleb) Hurst, and Carly (Troy) Hildebrandt; and 12 great-grandchildren who will carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Wilhelm Thoene.

In honor of Erich's life, we invite you to join us for visitation at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, located at 3950 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Masonic Ring Service taking place at 7:00 PM. A second visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Erich will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.
