David (Dave) was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Helen (nee Browne) and Harry Kahre on August 30, 1958. He's the beloved husband of Cynthia (nee Matas) Kahre; devoted father of Kristin (Ian) Mansfield and Jarrod (Amanda) Kahre; dear brother of Linda (Bob) Langton and Barbara (Jim) Rust; and treasured grandfather of Eben, Everlin, Lilien, and Wade.
Dave understood the Good News of the Gospel. He knew that God loved him, but that his sin separated him from God and that he needed a Savior to live the life he couldn’t and pay the death he deserved. Dave knew that Savior was Jesus Christ. Dave was captivated by God’s love for him and because of that, he spent his career as a missionary serving with Cru International (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). He wanted everyone to have a chance to say “yes” to Jesus, help build them in their faith, and send them out as lifetime laborers. His calling took him and Cindy to serve in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University; Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University; Olathe, Kansas; Fishers, Indiana; Budapest, Hungary; Apex, North Carolina; Orlando, Florida; and most recently, Oxford, Ohio. He was a member and Elder at Oxford Bible Fellowship.
Dave loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart. As a result, he was kind, encouraging, available, intentional, and servant-hearted. He breathed life into everyone he came into contact with. He liked simple things like cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and mowing his lawn. In recent years he could most often be found at his grandkids sporting events. The absence of his presence in his families daily life is so painfully evident because he was always there. He was deeply loved and is now so dearly missed. The future reality of heaven, fills Dave’s family with great hope and expectation for a glorious and eternal reunion.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 31 at Oxford Bible Fellowship at 10:30am.
