Dear husband of Sandy for 51 years. Son to Ben & Shirley, brother to Bud (Georgie), Danny (Mary Carol), Sheila, Jay (Janet), and Maury. Dad to Mimi, Taffy (Trevin), Holly, Becky (Brett). Paw-Paw to Tiffany, Kayla (Ben), Tara, Kylee (Elisha), Kayden, Noah, and Kamren. Great Paw-Paw to Maddy, Jeslyn, Lane, Waylan, Kason, Arianna, and Emmy. Uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Dave was a hunter, fisherman, wood carver and family man. He took the neighborhood kids on a crawdad hunt in our creek and had a crawfish boil. His favorite place to be, was in the woods. Hunting or making trails with his “Honda”/four wheeler. He served in the Army where he learned to “show us some Army stuff” as he would say as he shook his fist at us jokingly. He led singing at church and baptized so many.
His grandkids brought him so much joy and he loved to pester them. He loved them fiercely.
He would give the shirt off his back to be able to help someone!
He fought a hard fight and did not want to leave us. His stroke 27 years ago took his communication and his terrible COPD took his breath! He no longer struggles to say the right words, understand what’s being said or to breathe. He’s at peace now and that gives our family so much comfort!
There will be no formal services. His family will honor him privately. His ashes will be taken to the woods, where he loved and spent so much time.
Donations of love can be made in his honor to Crossroads Hospice who loved on him and his family so perfectly.
