Carla Clawson

Carla Jeanne Clawson, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2025, at the age of 67. She was born on February 9, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the beloved daughter of the late Carl Jr. and Vonnie (Decamp) Tonne. Carla was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who poured her love into her family. She married her late husband, Richard Clawson, in 1980, and they shared 16 beautiful years together filled with love and cherished memories. A graduate of Aiken High School, Class of 1976, and The Ohio State University. 

She passionately worked as a paraprofessional and intervention specialist at Talawanda and Edgewood Schools, making a positive impact on the lives of many children. Carla was also actively involved in Butler County 4-H and dedicated numerous years to coaching Horse Bowl, where she inspired young minds. Above all, Carla’s greatest joy came from her family. She took immense pride in watching her grandchildren thrive in sports, celebrating each of their victories with unmatched enthusiasm. Carla is survived by her children Kenneth (Laura) Clawson and Anthony (Nicole) Clawson; grandchildren Bryce, Carter, Jack, Ali, and Katie; brothers, Daniel (Lori) Tonne and Kenneth (Jeannine) Tonne; sister-in-law Barb (Marvin) Bruns; brother-in-law Charlie Kennel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Richard Clawson; her parents; sister-in-law Carol Kennel; mother-in-law Norma Clawson; and her father-in-law Martin Clawson.

A visitation to honor and celebrate Carla’s life will take place at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, located at 5086 College Corner Pike in Oxford, Ohio, on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with burial at College Corner Cemetery. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the Tribute Wall.
