Bonita E. Lyon Obituary
BONITA ELEANOR LYON
FEBRUARY 7, 1948 - JUNE 29, 2026 Bonita, or Bonny as most knew her, was born on the west side of Cincinnati on February 7, 1948 and was the devoted and loving daughter to Lorraine (nee Mundorf) and Ferdinand Buehler until their passings. She spent 49 years as the devoted and loving wife to Edward Clifford Lyon before his passing in 2020. She’s the beloved mother of Christopher (Kate Lea) Lyon, Jeff (April) Lyon and Denise (Christopher Ulland) Lyon; cherished grandmother of Brandon Lyon, Joel Lyon, Ty (Madalynn Cook) Lyon, Damon Lyon, Jacob Lyon, Casey (Mikey Gosselin) Lyon, Alayna (Karter) McQuiston, Colt Lyon, Kaleesi Lyon, Ireland Lyon, Chance Lyon and great-grandmother of Summer Gosselin; In recent years her role of grandmother expanded to include Hannah Lea, Alex Lea, Nicole Lea, Isaiah (Brooke Bowman) McIntosh, Madison McIntosh, Layla McIntosh and Breanna McIntosh. She is proceeded in death by her sister Sharon (Sherry) and brother-in-law Ken (Butch) Lahmann. She is survived by dear sister-in-laws, Jean (Robert) Sweet and Shadow (Tim) Gleason and their children and families. Bonny was most proud of the titles Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She spent over 50 years in her house in the Roxanna neighborhood were she and Ed raised their three kids. She had lifelong friends from that street and those who were blessed to have known Bonny over the years knew her to be a kind and caring neighbor, an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She enjoyed spending hours outside among the flowers and her beloved cat colony. More than anything, she was a fierce advocate of all critters, great and small. The five cats that remained in her care until the end were the reason for her to rise each morning. Her love of animals was passed on to her kids and grandkids. She will be greatly missed for her deep love, her devotion to friends and family, her witty sense of humor, her toughness and amazing strength.
A visitation for Bonny will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home (Mt. Healthy) on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 11 am until time of funeral service at 1 pm. All are welcome to join at her gravesite internment at the Crown Hill Memorial Gardens and a life celebration reception for close friends and family at 3:00pm back at the funeral home. In honor of Bonny and her love of the color, please include a pop of purple in your attire to honor her. One of Bonny’s greatest joys was caring for and loving all animals. To honor that lifelong compassion, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a memorial gift to Best Friends Animal Society in Bonita Lyon’s memory in lieu of flowers. Your generosity will help provide hope, healing, and loving homes for all animals in need—a tribute that would have meant so much to Bonny.
