Bobby Morris Obituary

Bobby Joe Morris, age 79, of Springfield Twp. Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday September 11, 2022.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Morris; sons, Eric (Tiffany) Morris and Stephen (Angie) Morris; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Morris, Megan Spurlock, Mallory Morris, Ali and Lia Coleman, and Savannah Morris; Sister, JoAnn Dye; Brother, Bert (Becky) Morris and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby Joe was born on August 19, 1943 in Kaliopi, Kentucky- which is located in Leslie County, on Hell For Certain Creek, to Pauline (England) and Cash Morris. He was a 1961 graduate of St. Bernard High School in Cincinnati. Bob went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. While attending UC, he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and participated in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) to help fund his education. Bob later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Xavier University.

In between all of Bob’s educational endeavors, he met his loving wife Sharon, and they married in 1966. Their son Steve was born 2 years later in October 1968, and their son Eric was born in December 1973.

Bob was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with both of his sons. He served as a Cubmaster for Greenhills Cub Scout Troop 334, and as Scoutmaster for Greenhills Boy Scout Troop 433. Bob was a role model for many scouts who did not have a father at home. Bob spent many weekends camping, hiking, backpacking and even spelunking with his sons and many other kids. Both of his boys achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Bob enjoyed boating and spent many hours pulling his kids around on a tube or a pair of skis. Bob also enjoyed roller coasters and amusement rides, especially The Beast. His favorite things were doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, playing UNO, solving crossword puzzles while in his hot tub, watching his beloved alma maters play basketball and football, as well as the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Lately he added FC Cincinnati to his roster. As a graduate of both UC and Xavier, Bob was a fan of the winning team in the Crosstown Shootout every year.

At his time of passing, Bob was still employed- for over 40 years at Jacobs Engineering. He was highly regarded as a Professional Engineer with the ability to analyze and design complex, high voltage industrial power systems. He was also an expert in the emerging area of electrical arc flash safety.

Bob was a long-time member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church.

Bob never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with any living soul that crossed his path. Offering advice on love and life whether you asked for it or not. He really enjoyed traveling with his wife and family over the years. Bob was a devoted husband, extremely hard worker, a continual optimist and made the most of every day.

In the words of Bobby Joe, “be good”.
