Anne Baxter, born March 23, 1925 in Sacramento, California to Reverend James H. Wilson and Miriam Nolan Wilson (both deceased), died January 14, 2022 in McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford after a fall. Her maiden name was Nancy Wilson; her divorced spouse (deceased) was Dr. Paul W. Runge of Richmond, Indiana. They had five children: John Runge and Charles Runge (both deceased), Miriam Runge West of Richmond, Indiana, Carolyn Runge Gammerman of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Amy Runge Gaffney of Chico, California. Survivors also include six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A professor of piano and music literature at Miami University of Ohio from 1965 to 1992, Anne had also taught before her marriage at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, and at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She held music degrees from Oberlin and Cincinnati Conservatories of Music. Among her piano teachers were Jan Chiapusso, Olga Samaroff Stokowski, Robert Goldsand, Guido Agosti and Gyorgy Sebok.
Anne will be remembered for her grace and style, her sense of humor and indefatigable spirit, and her conversational, artistic and musical gifts. She never lost her curiosity and love of life. She was loved and will be missed.
A private graveside service will be held post-Covid. Memorials may be made to Friends Committee on National Legislation.
