Alex enjoyed team sports, musical performance, travel, his dogs, and spending time with his extended family. He began summer swimming with the Swordfish swim team at the Wyoming Swim Club at the age of 6. He spent summers working there as a swim coach, lifeguard and assistant manager. He began competitive swimming with the Powel Crosley, Jr. Tigershark Team at the age of 8 and continued throughout his high school years. At Miami University, he changed his focus to competitive weightlifting and organized the first-ever MU team to compete in the 2017 Collegiate Nationals in San Antonio, TX.
He began playing piano at a young age and later used his ability to keep a musical beat to become a talented drummer. He played drums weekly as part of the praise band at Faith Lutheran Church for many years, performed as part of special musical programs at the York Street Baptist Church and recently filled in with the praise band at Northern Hills Christian Church.
