Obituary

Shannon Brooke Nelson, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2023. Shannon was 23 years old. She was born on May 2, 2000 in Hamilton, Ohio to her parents Timothy and Angela Nelson. She truly loved her sisters Erin and Megan and was in return loved deeply by them.

Growing up Shannon could bring laughter and good times to any situation. She was incredibly intelligent and was part of the Visions program in Fairfield. She began taking college classes while still a sophomore in high school. She graduated Fairfield High School in 2018 and attended University of Cincinnati as a business major. She was in her senior year there and had hoped to graduate next year.

Shannon loved nature and being outdoors, spending many hours walking in the parks and taking time out for the occasional kayaking trip. Her favorite destination was the beach and she yearned to go back when she wasn't there. Shannon was also very reflective and enjoyed reading. She would often engage those around her to think deeply about God's Word. Her faith was an integral part of who she was.

While she had many interests her relationships with others meant everything to her. She was extremely loyal. To her it was more important to take care of someone in need than to protect her own interests.  She was extremely empathetic and aware of those who were less fortunate.

No description of Shannon would be complete without mentioning her cat, Mittens. Mittens was her favorite companion, causing Shannon's face to light up with joy whenever she was with her. Shannon had such a gentle way of caring for Mittens, but then she had a delicate way of seeing life, she was truly a beautiful person inside and out.

She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family. She is survived by her mother, Angela Nelson, her sisters Erin Rebecca Nelson, and Megan Kathleen Gray (significant other Austin Reed); her many aunts and uncles Mark and Gisele Nader, Colin and Sue Smith, Robert and Doris Brinson, Ken and Connie Nelson, Warren and Frankye May, Mark and Linda Wygoda, David and Becky Evans; her nephews Samuel Gray and Alexander Reed. Shannon will be sorely missed by her many cousins.

Family members who preceded her in death are her father Timothy Taft Nelson, her grandparents Leslie Ramey, and Raymond and Phyllis Nelson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held for Shannon on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10:00 am. Both will occur at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11981 Pippin Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. The burial will be held privately with family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Here Shannon was baptized, confirmed and grew in her faith and understanding of God so that now she is part of His heavenly kingdom.
