Hamilton, OH
Sandra Mae Ake (Clifford), of Fairfield, passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday, February 25th. She was born to Charles and Dorothy Clifford (Ramsey) on July 10, 1948 in Falmouth, Kentucky. In the early days, she would spend lots of time on the family farm in Falmouth before moving to the city as a young girl. Sandy spent time in Newport, Covington and Mt Healthy. She was a graduate of Colerain High School and went on to work for John Hancock Insurance and spent several years there before marrying the love of her life, Bill Ake. Sandy helped develop and co-lead the Fairfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary to support the volunteer firefighters in the 1970s. Their main purpose was to raise funds to help with equipment and whatever the firehouse needed. She met some of her closest friends during that time.
She loved to travel, and her favorite place was Disney World. She was crazy about Disney! She could beat all the kids and family in Disney Trivia Pursuit! Her second passion and her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. You would always see her at every school function, every sporting event and was always the mom/grandma that would drop whatever she was doing to make sure everyone else was taken care of. Sandy also enjoyed crafting, she was the go-to for anyone who needed something creative put together.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband (Bill), her parents (Charles and Dorothy Clifford) and son (Chuck). She is leaves behind her heartbroken family, her son Jim (Mindy) Ake, her daughter Shawna (Dustin) Bredek, her grandchildren Kristen Hutson, Caleb (Jasmine) Ake, Erin (Alicia) Ake, Michael Ake, Garret, Colton and Kassidy Procter, Austin, Zachary (Haylie Grabel) and Maggie Bredek and 6 great grandchildren, Jordyn and Jaden Ake, Camden Rife, Evie and Espen Pierce and Beau Bredek and her brothers Tom (late Judy) Clifford, Tim (Kelly) Clifford and all of her nieces and nephews and many friends.
Memorials can be sent to Queen City Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her name.
