Obituary

In God's name we pay our respect to Raymond David "Ray" Fitzjarrell, 79.

Raymond David "Ray" Fitzjarrell, 79, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio - the city where he was born and spent his entire life.

Born on June 1, 1946 in Cincinnati to Raymond and Matilda Fitzjarrell, Ray grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that would guide him throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and commitment that remained hallmarks of his character.

After returning home from military service, Ray dedicated himself to a single company where he worked diligently for 40 years before retiring. His loyalty and work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike.

A devoted Catholic, Ray raised his children in the Church and lived out his faith through kindness, humility, and service to others. His spiritual foundation was evident in the way he treated everyone he met - with warmth, humor, and genuine interest.

Ray was a loving husband to Caroline and a proud father to Heather, Kathleen, and Raymond. He cherished his role as grandfather to Ethan, Elizabeth, and Hailey, Rebekah. Brother to Patricia Browning, Mary Dewald and Rita Smart His family was the center of his world; he offered them unwavering support, wise counsel, and endless laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Matilda Fitzjarrell and his brother Leroy.

Outside of work and family life, Ray found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water. A master billiards player with a competitive edge, he also enjoyed golfing with friends and challenging himself with word puzzles. Quick-witted and always ready with a comeback or joke, Ray had a gift for making people smile. His humor was infectious; his positivity toward life's challenges inspiring.

To those who knew him best - his family - he was more than just a father or husband; he was their rock. His advice will be missed deeply; so too will the laughter he brought into every room.
