Norbert Leo Shepherd, age 92 of Darrtown, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at Woodland Country Manor. Norbert was born August 17, 1931 in Newtonsville, Ohio, the son of Walter Shepherd and Hazel Hunter (nee: Pride). He served his country proudly in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Japan. Norbert was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he received his Masters Degree in Education. After college, Norbert was employed by Hamilton City Schools until his retirement in 1985, where he served as the Director of Vocational Education. In his free time, and in his retirement, he loved to garden and work in his woodshop.  Most of all though, he loved spending time with his family.

Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jessie (nee: Rowan) Shepherd, brother Norman Shepherd, and grandson Curtis Shepherd. He leaves behind his children Sally (John D.) Kurmu, Scott (Veronica) Shepherd, and Stuart (Laura) Shepherd; sister Pearl (Charlie) Shinkle, sister-in-law Jean Shepherd, grandchildren Christopher Shepherd, Shera Shepherd, Kaila Channels, and Victoria Lynn Kurmu; great-grandchildren Claire, Tanner, Kaylee, Marissa, Peyton, RJ, Monroe, Major, and Mio; as well as many other family members and friends. He enjoyed a special relationship with Tanner, Kaylee, Marissa, and Peyton.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 2nd, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, in Oxford, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at 11 AM with David Finney officiating. Interment will immediately follow services in Darrtown Cemetery. Following the interment, guests are invited to join the family at Seven Mile United Methodist Church for food and fellowship.  In lieu of flowers donations to the United Methodist Church of Seven Mile, Ohio would be appreciated.
