Nathan Paul
Baker
Feb 14, 1957 — Sep 19, 2023
Oxford
Nathan Paul Baker, age 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 19, 2023.
Nathan was born in Oxford, Ohio on February 14, 1957 to Edna (nee Friend) and Paul Baker. A 1974 graduate of Talawanda High School. Nathan and Beverly (nee Jones) were married on April 5, 1979 and together they raised three daughters in Oxford.
Nathan grew up working alongside his father in the construction business until he began Nathan Baker Construction. Nathan was passionate about concrete and all things that involved building. He had a strong mind for math and science and was always the one to help his daughters with their homework. Nathan built three homes for his wife and family with the first home being in Bath, Indiana, the second in Milford Twp and the final home in Lakengren where he resided with his wife. While the girls were growing up it wasn't uncommon to see them on the job site helping or patiently waiting for him to take a break to have lunch at Arby's. On a snowy winter day he could be found plowing snow which he did in and around Oxford for over 25 years.
Nathan was a charter member of the First Christian Church on Todd Road where he had strong family connections. Nathan loved Pepsi and the Cincinnati Reds, especially Pete Rose as he was in attendance at Riverfront Stadium the day Pete broke the all time hit record. Nathan and Bev enjoyed traveling to Tennessee, especially Nashville where they enjoyed many trips on the General Jackson and dining at the Aquarium Restaurant. He will be missed.
Nathan is the beloved husband of Beverly (nee Jones) Baker; father of Jennifer (Nathan) Simmons, Katie (Scott) Hill and Melissa Rogers; grandfather of Lauren, Elise, Mitchell, Jacob, Jack, Sydney and Ryan; brother of Keith (Karen) Baker, Sheila (Fred) Galey, Margot (Larry) Wenko, Jesse (Liz) Baker and Effie Baker; he was preceded in death by and now reunited with his newborn daughter Lauren Elizabeth, his parents Paul and Edna, his sister Paulette and his brother Bobby. Nathan is also survived by many other loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Oxford, Ohio on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 6 pm. Friends and family are welcome to stay after the service for a time of remembrance and fellowship (with desserts and coffee). Those wishing to make a donation in Nathan's memory can contribute to the First Christian Church 5877 Todd Road Oxford, OH 45056 or Humane Society of Preble County 951 S Barron Street Eaton, Ohio 45320.
