Loraine Frances Chafin passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at the age of 96, in Hamilton, Ohio at Westover Retirement Community.
She was born on March 21, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Mount Healthy High School in 1946. She was a devoted mother of 7 children. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards with her friends, and watching the Cincinnati Reds. She spent several years teaching water aerobics in her Florida home community. Everyone enjoyed being in her presence.
Loraine loved Cardinal birds. These spiritual messengers are also a sign of loyalty and devotion, two qualities that she truly embodied. She was a kind soul, with a wonderful sense of humor, and the loving spirit of Sweet Loraine will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Catherine Lawrence, the love of her life Russell Chafin, her sisters Gloria Clark and Thelma Wild, her oldest son David Chafin, her sons-in-law Steven Woodruff and William Van Nostran, and her grandson Jared Chafin.
She is survived by her children Kathy Chafin, Diane Van Nostran, Pamela Chafin, Patricia Schroer (Tom), Chip Chafin (Bobbie), and Lori DeBord (Steve). Her grandchildren Rene' Dudley, Jennifer Dudley, Chris Chafin, Amanda Hamner (Brad), Heather Pavlik (Thom), Tricia O'Hara (Brad), Nick Woodruff (Kristen), Matthew DeBord, and Xavier Chafin Harrison. As well as her great-grandchildren Casey Chafin, Caleb Chafin, Mackenzie O'Hara, Natalie Hamner, Hollie Hamner, Nolan Hamner, Steven Woodruff, Sloane Woodruff, Sean Pavlik, and Tate Pavlik.
Visitation will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Trenton, Ohio, on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 10:00am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Oxford, Ohio.
