LaVera was born in Elliot, IL to Nina (nee Bocock) and Everett Dearing on July 20, 1926. She was the beloved wife of Frank L. Ferry; devoted mother of Judith Garretson and Jill (Michael) Slone; adoring grandmother of Benjamin (Mariah) Garretson, Mark Garretson, Brian Garretson, Zachary Garretson, Megan (Jeromy) Myers, Claire (Bodie) Israel, Courtney (Trevor) Belanger, Alex (Jess) Sloan, James Sloan; dear great-grandmother of Madeline, Luke, Emma, Jeremiah, Liam and Ceili Garretson, Hunter Brooke and Harley Myers, Olivia Slone, Caden, Rhyanne and Baby Girl Israel; cherished sister of the late Roberta Starr.

LaVera and Frank were married in 1947, raised their two girls in Hamilton, Ohio and were long-time members of Bethel Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. LaVera was a dental assistant for many years. She was a gifted seamstress and also enjoyed china painting.

A visitation for LaVera will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Hamilton (3950 Pleasant Avenue). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in LaVera's name to the American Cancer Society.
