Jerry Schlachta passed away on September 21, 2026 at the age of 83. He was born to Ruth and Louis Schlachta on June 23rd 1943 in Covington, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Schlachta, who shared his life and stood beside him through 43 years of marriage. He is also survived by his two sons Jeffrey Schlachta and Jonathan Schlachta; half-brother Steve Povkov and his wife Carol Povkov, his brother-in-law Bill Betz and wife Angie Betz, and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky after completing military service in the US Navy, Jerry moved to Ohio to work at State Farm Insurance where he retired after 40 years of exemplary service as an Insurance Adjuster in 2011. Not only a dedicated Husband and Father, he was also a dedicated sports fan to both the Reds and Bengals... no matter how bad they played... or how often he had to yell at them through the T.V.

He enjoyed spending time with his best friend Jim Tarter and played tennis, sailed on a boat, or spent time fixing up the house. One of his, if not the most, favorite activity was spending time in the backyard cleaning up twigs, trimming trees, or (more often than not) lazily napping under the large oak tree.

The family has requested no flowers but instead please make a charitable donation to Hospice of Cincinnati whom provided him around the clock care and support during his final hours. 

There are no formal services scheduled at this time. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
