Janis was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Kathleen and Howard Miller on July 17, 1948. She is the beloved mother of Jody (Jason) Sherrill, the late Billy (Lori Rine) Rutledge, Scott (Sarah) Rutledge, Amy (Scott Koch) Rutledge and Shane (Fredia Washburn) Rutledge; and cherished and adored grandmother and great-grandmother to many grandchildren. She's the dear sister of the late Jamie (Tom Van DeHatert) Miller and loving aunt of nephew Ryan Hanna.

Janis loved to laugh and spend time with her pets, Kitty and her dog Roscoe. But more than anything she loved her family and being surrounded by her precious grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. A celebration of life for Janis will be held at a later date.
