Helen Ann
Scott
Jun 18, 1947 — Jan 28, 2024
Huntsville, AL
Huntsville, AL – Helen Ann Scott. Beloved wife of Jim Scott for 52 years. Devoted mother of Jamie Scott, Kathy (Joe) Auger, and Jen (Drew) Case. Cherished grandmother of Zel, Amelia, and Isaiah Auger. Ann passed away on January 28, 2024 at the age of 76 years. Ann was born in Loretto, TN to Rita and Bill Lamprecht. She was a loving sister to Carl, Jerome, Tim, Betty, Marie, Margie, and Imelda. With her propensity for mathematics, she elected to pursue training as a teacher. Having grown up in a Catholic school, her initial path lead her to a convent in Cincinnati; however, she left to pursue further education in Memphis. In Memphis, she was in class with the "nerdiest boy" she ever met, who helped her get oriented to a math class. But quickly, she fell deeply in love and married Jim as he was the love of her life. While her children were small, Ann dedicated her (very little) free time to volunteer work. She worked in the school nurse's office and was often a room parent. She made weekly banners for church. She played in the handbell choir. As her children grew older, she returned to work, doing data management and reduction for the Space Shuttle program, subcontracting for NASA. As she aged, she became the most medically resilient woman--having survived 2 different types of cancer, a stroke, multiple joint replacements, and endured nearly a decade of dialysis. Jim often referred to her as his "bionic wife." She impressively confronted her health challenges with strength and unwavering positivity. Ann was known for her brilliance and wisdom. She knew how to give advice without actually giving her opinion, but rather fostering someone to find their own path. She supported people whom society labeled as different. She was ruthless at board games. She loved college football, almost as much as her husband, sometimes more. Helen Ann Scott was a lover of music and fostered this love in her children.
