George J. Reiter

It is with great sadness that the family of George J. Reiter announces his passing on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 78 years.

Although people thought of him as being larger than life, his life began simply in Hamilton, OH. He was born on December 5, 1947 to George R. and Joan Reiter. After graduating from Ross High School in 1967, George joined the Army and proudly served his country for 3 years, including an assignment in Seoul, South Korea. He married his beloved wife, Shirley Lahmann, in 1973.

George was a truck driver for 38 years, driving millions of miles with no accidents. After retiring from trucking, he worked at the Winton Woods Campground for 15 years. George actively participated in and led local Native American Pow Wow events and he was privileged to lead Grand Entry processions as the Head Veteran. He enjoyed expressing his patriotism and support for the troops with a large yard display. You always knew when George entered a room because he loved being loud and humorous, but loving to all. The world is quieter without him, but he leaves family and friends with a lifetime of memories and stories to remember the man who was George J. Reiter.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Georg Ann Reiter and Geo Ann Meister. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley; his children, George (Jennifer) and John; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
