Jun 6, 1928 — May 11, 2026
Oxford
EDWIN HOWARD MEADOR - Born June 6, 1928 in Bellepoint, West Virginia. Edwin passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early morning on May 11, 2026 at Woodland Country Manor. Ed will be remembered as a kindhearted man who deeply loved his family. He loved to travel with his devoted wife, Virginia, up until her passing in 2021. Ed and Virginia spent 67 amazing years together and raised two wonderful sons, Jim and Randy, in Oxford, Ohio. His two favorite travel spots were West Virginia, visiting family, and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was no surprise to us when we would get a call the night before they were leaving town, telling us they were leaving the next day. Ed loved tending to his garden and flowers. His favorite plants were strawberries, raspberries, petunias, and irises. On special occasions, he would pick his berries and use them to make his homemade ice cream.
Ed graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston. Ed attended West Virginia University for one year before serving three years in the US Army. Ed then attended Ohio University, graduating in 1953 with two years - one interruption being called back into service during the Korean War.
Ed worked at Miami University from August 1953 until retiring in June 1984. He worked as a photographer and eventually as the production manager of the Audio Visual Service with Emeriti status. During and after retirement, Ed photographed game films for the coaches from 1953 to 1989 for both football and basketball.
His mother, Blanche, died at his birth. He was raised by his father, Elvyn, his Grandmother, Mary Ann, and his two aunts, Emma and Amy Howard in Charleston, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia; parents, Elvyn and Blanche Meador; grandparents; aunts, Amy and Emma; two sisters, Mildred and Mary Catherine; and two sons, Charles and baby boy at birth. Ed is survived by his two sons, Jim (Karen) and Randy (Bev); special niece Linda Watson; five grandchildren, Chris (Liz), Daniel (girlfriend, Michelle), Alisha (fiance, James), Luke, and Eli (fiancee, Kiersten); and five great grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Brooklyn, Jaxson and Emma.
As Ed would always end any conversation, whether it be in person or on the phone, "GOOD ENOUGH."
A visitation for Ed will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 3 pm until 5 pm with a time of sharing beginning at 4:30. Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the Darrtown United Methodist Church , the Open Hands Food Pantry, or the Milford Township Fire Association.
