Charles was born on February 25, 1933 to Nina (nee Sproles) and Robert Marrs in Guymon, Oklahoma. Charles passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Washington CH, Ohio.

Charles is the beloved husband of the late Arlene (nee Stepp) Marrs; devoted father of Debbie Nunley, the late Lorrie Kinnett and Caron (Doug) Toftner; cherished grandfather of Bill (Jill) Nunley, Mike (Kristy) Nunley, Amanda Duncan, Lisa Kinnett, Brandon (Halie) Toftner, Stacey Toftner and great-grandfather of Molly, Liam, Maddie, Katelyn, Avery, Peter, Gwendolyn and Rowan. He was great, great grandfather to Addie, Indy, Grayson and Levi.

He is survived by his brothers, Harry and Joseph. He is preceded in death by his late brothers William, John, Millard, Robert, Buddy and Donald and his late sisters Francis Hudson and Georgia Bradshaw.

Charles was one of 11 children. His family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio when he was a child and he graduated from Walnut Hills High School. In August of 1952 he joined the military where he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Charles was a lithographer and worked for Standard Publishing, Viva Color, Bell & Hortenstine and later retired at Stevenson Photo Color. He was a MSA with the Scottish Rite and lifelong Mason of Hoffner Lodge #253 F&M, as well as North Bend Mark Lodge, Price Hill #164, Willis #131 and Cumminsville #158.

Two lifelong friends and fellow Masons describe Charles as "he was the most remarkable man I ever met. He loved his family and his Masonic family. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. He was a great role model and dear friend."

Another friend and fellow Mason described him as "Charlie was always a cheerleader for brethren he was mentoring. He was an excellent ritualist and helped many learn the ritual as well. He always encouraged members to strive for excellence and was the foundation of the fellow craft team. Charlie will be truly missed by many brothers."

Charles was a member of White Oak Christian Church while he lived in Cincinnati and enjoyed being active in the Church for many years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

The family is grateful for the caring attention over the past year of the staff at the Signature of Fayette County in Washington Courthouse, OH. In his last days, the staff of Signature of Fayette County, especially Nurse Jim and all his nursing staff and aides were tremendously kind and caring. Finally, the family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for the comfort they provided during his last year of life.

Charles was a wonderful friend and mentor to many. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and uncle. He will truly be missed.

A visitation for Charles will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home (Mt. Healthy) on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 11am until time of funeral service and Masonic service at 12pm. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
